STOP WAITING AND START DOING

When we wait for others, we put our own lives and goals on hold. We might miss out on opportunities and experiences that come our way because that person was “supposed to connect today”. We may also miss out on the chance to be active or get outside during the only available day this week. Instead of taking the lead and making our own plans, we become passive and rely on others to make things happen. This can be harmful in the long run, as it can lead to a lack of motivation and a sense of stagnation in our personal lives.

In order to start living your life and stop wasting time waiting for others, it’s important to take the initiative and make our own plans. We should also learn to rely on ourselves and develop our own independence. We should not be afraid to try new things and to take risks, even if it’s alone. Have you wanted to take a class or explore a new country? Just do it! This is your life and you have interests and ambitions that you want to accomplish before your time comes to an end.

I get it, we want to surround ourselves with other people and create strong bonds with our friends. I highly encourage you to continue to do that but don’t put off your aspirations until your network is ready. Do it when you are! When it’s time, set clear objectives, make a plan of action, and take the necessary steps to achieve them. Remember that taking action requires effort, dedication, and perseverance, but the rewards are well worth it. Take the leap and register for a course, sign up for a membership, join group online, read books and articles on a subject to become more familiar with whatever it is you are looking to do more of. Now is the time to make a positive change.

Where you are in your personal journey is different than someone else’s. But, it's also important to set clear boundaries and communicate effectively with others. We should be upfront about our needs and expectations, and we should be clear about what we are and are not willing to do. By taking the initiative, developing our own independence, setting clear boundaries and communicating effectively, we can stop waiting and start doing.
